About Winged Flight Jewelry 

Hi, I’m Caroline — a public librarian by day, and a handmade jewelry designer always. In both roles, I believe the same thing deeply: everyone deserves a space where they can be completely, joyfully themselves. My jewelry is my way of celebrating that.

I create one-of-a-kind pieces from high-quality Czech glass beads, handmade polymer clay beads and pendants I sculpt myself, and cracked marbles I make by baking marbles in my oven — a technique that produces a magical, fractured-light effect you won’t find anywhere else. Nature runs through everything I make, from the colors I’m drawn to and the textures I reach for, to some of my most beloved designs, like my handmade polymer clay tree earrings.

The Story Behind the Name

Winged Flight Jewelry was inspired by Wind Over Wings, an organization that rescued and cared for birds of prey with permanent injuries — birds who could no longer live in the wild, but who refused to be anything other than fully themselves. I had the privilege of hearing their stories, and I was moved every time. Despite everything, these birds were determined, resilient, and completely authentic.

That spirit is exactly what I want my jewelry to carry. When you wear a piece from Winged Flight, I hope it feels like permission — to show up as your truest, most wonderful self.

How It Started 

Over eleven years ago, my best friend gave me a jewelry-making starter kit as a gift. I started making simple beaded earrings for friends and family, and something clicked. I kept going — into necklaces, bracelets, and eventually polymer clay, where I discovered the mokume gane technique: a layering and blending method that creates endlessly surprising patterns. Years later, it’s still one of my favorites.

I let color lead me. The hues in a strand of Czech glass or a fresh block of clay tell me what they want to become. Every finished piece feels like a small surprise, and I love imagining the stories my customers will tell while wearing them.
